So I would like to know more about what you do at this retreat...what kinds of activities, do you have experienced counselors, do you just talk, etc. It would be neat to get something like this for birthmothers in my state (MN). I am an adoptive mother, but would love to get some things like this planned for birthmothers in our area--just curious what you love about it and what works and what is important to have to make it successful. This is awesome!

im not on the planning committee, the ladies in seattle are the experts. their email addys are on the postcard, give them a shout out and glean from their wisdom to get something organized in your area.

i love the sisterhood, the camaraderie, the opportunity to be surrounded by others that share such a remarkable experience- for some it was great, for some it was awful, and most fall somewhere in the middle- but to be together is what makes it amazing. its humbling, its inspiring, its motivating. last year was less structured than the previous year as far as counselor lead activities, most of the activities we do are looking within at ones own personality and not centered on anything specifically adoption related. we do do some grp things like put messages in balloons that are specific to our adoptions.

its truly a retreat for the mind body and soul, it just so happens that we all share an extra bond of birthmotherhood. we dont sleep much, we talk a lot and eat and share pics and laugh and joke and swim in the lake and hike and star gaze and tell stories and have a blast.
