This weeekend was really fun for me I got to meet lots of birthmothers and adoptive mothers! I got to hear so many wonderful stories from so many amazing people!
As I was hearing stories of miscarriages, deaths, a birthmother who placed and cannot get pregnant again, etc. I realized...All of the women in this room are mothers. If you are a young woman who placed ... you are a mother. If you have lost a child... you are a mother. If you have adopted a child... you are still a mother. I know this may be old news to some of you, but it struck me in such a beautiful way.
There was one woman whose strength I so admired! She had lost two children. One of her children died at 11 days after birth and the other at 9 months. This baffled me in so many ways. Then she told me they had just decided to give up. My heart sank! Then she proceeded to tell me about their adoption and how they had been lied to about price and for a small moment they were scared if that was going to fail. Luckily they were still able to adopt an amazingly cute kid! :)
I just can't believe the strength that some people have!
I so strongly felt the spirit around so many of these amazing mothers of every kind, it was unbelievable. When I left the retreat, I bawled the whole way home! It was amazing! I only wish I could transfer that feeling of "You are not alone in your suffering" to every one of you! It was amazing!
I just wanted to take this time and thank every one of you for being a mother. Whether you are a birthmother, adoptive mother, or a biological mother, or any multiple of those. YOU ARE STILL A MOTHER!
I wish I could meet every mother in this world and ask her about her experiences and journey to motherhood!
Keep the love going around and around!
Love, Jessalynn
P.S. The movie is just a little extra because its fun to listen to!

Thank you for sharing this Jessalynn...it was so beautiful. I wish I could have been there to see it. :)
Hi, my name is Rachel and me and my family are in the process of adopting a baby through an agency and there are so many emotions on both sides of the adoption process. It was so good to hear your adoption experience. I am a 37 year old mother of four (biological) children, and although it sounds crazy, I have had a reoccurring dream of holding a little african american baby (I am caucasian) in my arms. I have been very blessed to be able to bear my own children and I am very grateful for that, however the desire to adopt has never left me. This past January, a week after the earthquake hit in Haiti, I was approached by a friend of mine asking me if I would be willing to either foster or adopt one of the Hatian orphans granted temporary visas, I jumped into the process heart first. Sadly, after three months of a complete emotional roller coaster, they closed all adoptions out of Haiti. We met as a family and decided that our intent was to adopt and that was still our desire, so we decided to adopt within the USA. It has been amazing to see our children want something so unconditionally. The unfortunate thing is, we have to raise the money ourselves and it has been quite an endeavor, but hopefully with determination we will accomplish our goal soon. The goal is $25,000 and we have raised $7,000. From the other end of the adoption process I want to thank you birth mothers for your selfless act. Please know that we Mothers' will love your children, and know the price you have paid to give us the opportunity to do so. If you would like to see our story, our blog is written by my oldest daughter, Kennedy www.projectbarkerbaby.blogspot.com Again, thank you for your words, they have truly inspired me to try harder.
